Combat Achievements Expansion: Rewards (2024)

Your Feedback and What's Next

Added November 1st

We've made two slight tweaks since the updated newspost yesterday:

  • The poll question regarding the new rewards has been split up into seperate questions.
  • We've changed the Elite Tier reward for God Wars KC from 32 to 30.

Combat Achievements Expansion: Rewards (1)

Added October 31st

Last week, we released some top-level ideas for how we'd like to expand Combat Achievements and we've been incredibly pleased with the response so far! Our primary focus was on the potential new rewards, and we also floated the idea of a points-based system that players have been asking about for quite some time.

So first up, we've added two questions to this newspost, to be polled alongside some other pieces of content that we can't discuss just yet.

Here are the key points from your feedback:

  • You responded very positively to the points-based system.
  • You liked the buff to NPC Contact but didn’t feel that it should come from Combat Achievements.
  • Suggested reward concepts included the ability to summon Thralls without the Book of the Dead, increased Slayer task block slots and Dragon Hunter Lance cosmetics – to name just a few!

As an immediate change, we've removed the NPC Contact buffs from the list of new rewards, as we agree with the sentiment surrounding it. We have instead replaced them with an increase to the number of Cannonballs your Cannon can hold by 5, 15 and 30 across the Medium, Hard and Elite tiers respectively - another popular suggestion.

We’ve considered all the ideas you’ve put forward and may or may not have taken notes for potential future content.

Regarding the point-based system, the team are right there with you in terms of wanting a change. However, rather than poll something now and leave you in the dark about when we can deliver it (something we've definitely never done before...), we want to ensure we can commit our time and deliver it within a good timeframe, so look forward to a poll in the near future asking about these changes..

Combat Achievements Expansion: Rewards (2)

Ready to achieve ultimate glory in combat? Then keep reading…

Since we released Combat Achievements a year or so ago (how time flies!) we’ve added loads of new content to the game – with this ever-increasing task list, we want to ensure that you’re also getting plenty of new rewards.

One of the biggest complaints about Combat Achievements is that they’re not rewarding, especially considering the amount of time it takes to complete higher tiers. When we look at the data, we can see that even players with the combat skill to beat the tiers are rarely doing so – and this tells us that you need greater incentives to get those ‘cheeves.

We’ve also talked about a potential, long-term solution on livestream before, but here’s the lowdown for those of you who missed it: we want to explore a points-based system for Combat Achievements, similar to the mechanics used to unlock Leagues rewards.

We’d give every Combat Achievement its own point value, with harder tasks awarding more points. This would let you pick and choose which tasks to try, while still reaping awesome benefits. Some of you might choose to complete all the Easy tasks, while more experienced players could complete one Hard and two Medium tasks and get the same reward.

We believe this is a more player-friendly approach and it's something you've been asking us to investigate for some time, so let us know if you would be interested in us continuing our exploration.

In the meantime, let’s talk rewards!

Combat Achievements Expansion: Rewards (4)
Changes to Current Rewards

Before we take a look at the new rewards on offer, we’d like to make a couple of tweaks to the current selection, to make them a little more motivating.

First up, we have the 'Like A Boss' Bonus – we’d like to buff your reward based on your Kill Count when assigned a boss task:

  • Easy: Up to 40 Boss Kills (3 more than the current reward)
  • Medium: Up to 45 Boss Kills (6 more than the current reward)
  • Hard: Up to 50 Boss Kills (9 more than the current reward)
  • Elite: Up to 55 Boss Kills (12 more than the current reward)
  • Master: Up to 60 Boss Kills (14 more than the current reward)
  • Grandmaster: Up to 65 Boss Kills (15 more than the current reward)

Speaking of Kill Counts, we want to reduce the requirements for the God Wars Dungeon KC Entry:

  • Hard: 35 Follower Kill Count (a 3 kill improvement from the current reward)
  • Elite: 30 Follower Kill Count (a 6 kill improvement from the current reward)
  • Master: 25 Follower Kill Count (an 8 kill improvement from the current reward)
  • Grandmaster: 15 Follower Kill Count (a 15 kill improvement from the current reward)

Poll Question #6:

Should we improve the 'Like A Boss' bonuses and God Wars Kill Count Reduction rewards currently offered from Combat Achievements?

Easy Tier Rewards

  • Earn 100% more Warrior Tokens from the Warriors' Guild.
  • Gain an additional point per successful game of Pest Control.

Medium Tier Rewards

Although these first two are upgraded versions of the Easy Tier rewards, please note that they do not stack with the Easy version:

  • Earn 200% more Warrior Tokens from the Warriors' Guild.
  • Gain an additional 2 points per successful game of Pest Control.

Additional Medium Tier rewards are:

  • The total number of Cannonballs a Cannon can hold is increased to 35 (+5 more than it's base).
  • You will no longer be affected by the Prayer Drain effect at Barrows while Ghommal's Hilt is equipped.

Hard Tier Rewards

  • Gain an additional 3 points per successful game of Pest Control.
  • The total number of Cannonballs a Cannon can hold is increased to 45 (+15 more than it's base).

And we've got one new reward coming to the Hard Tier:

Elite Tier Rewards

  • The total number of Cannonballs a Cannon can hold is increased to 60 (+30 more than it's base).
