Otter Cob

Otter Cob

Otter Cob Mk1

Tired of otters defiling your docklines?

The Otter Cob is a brand new product that solves the problem of otters pooping on your cleated dock lines.  Otters eat crab shells and clams.  The shells of these foods are not digestible, and pass through the otter’s digestive tract.  When this material is expelled from the otter’s digestive tract, it is painful and itches quite severely.  Otters utilize your handy cleated dock lines to relieve the itch. The Otter Cob was developed to precisely match the aft anatomy of the otter, and is also infused with an odor attractive to an otter with an itch.  The device consists of a stainless steel flush mount dock receptacle, and replaceable cob stems.  The stems can be easily removed for cleaning or replacement.

The Otter Cob is the latest product from What, Inc., formed by several scientists from the University of Washington Marine Labs and located in Friday Harbor.  Their mission is to create useful products based on marine biology science.  In initial tests performed on the docks at the Marine Labs, and at the Port of Friday Harbor, otters preferred the cob to the cleat over 90% of the time.  The product is currently being distributed exclusively by Friday Harbor Marine.  Contact Friday Harbor Marine, 4 Front Street, Friday Harbor, 98250; 360-378-6202; Fax: 360-378-6205; www.fridayharbormarine.com
